His self-written and self-produced singles and music videos form the backbone of our current repertoire. Now, John’s love affair with music started when he was just a young bloke of 14. That’s when he first picked up the guitar and started strummin’ away. But it didn’t stop there. He joined the Male Choir and took his talents on tour to France and Germany, even competin’ internationally. The lad had the fire in him!
Since then, John’s been involved in a bunch of bands and projects. We’re talkin’ Drum Sticks, Glue, Kalamazoo, Locos, YKnot?, and Slagel. The man’s got a diverse musical taste, mate. His style is influenced by classic rock legends like The Beatles, Dire Straits, Jimi Hendrix, Little Walter (and of course, Muddy Waters), Queen, and Eric Clapton. But he’s also got a wide range of musical interests, like Austrian yodelling, a blues harp obsession, and a deep admiration for folk music. And you know what? He manages to blend all these elements and influences into his songwriting and arrangements. It’s a true musical journey!
John was the songwriter and producer of CBRB’s debut album ‘The Chronicles of Coogee Bay Road‘, and he’s constantly cookin’ up new material specifically for Coogee Bay Road Band. This bloke’s a songwriting machine, always bringin’ fresh tunes to the table.
