Introducing Sal, our fabulous drummer! Born in the former Yugoslavia, Sal Karaychich made his way to Sydney in 1994, bringing with him a wealth of musical experience. His roots are deeply embedded in the sounds of the ’70s and ’80s, and over the years, he’s played with a variety of local cover bands, including the Mario Borg Band, Crash, and Plan B.
Sal was also a key member of John Citizen, an original band that created their own alt-rock tunes. He contributed to the recording of their mini-CD Give A Little in October 2004, a project that helped define their alternative rock sound. After the band split, Sal continued to drum for several cover bands, drawing on his love for a wide range of music.
A true music lover, Sal enjoys everything from the classics of the ’70s, blues, soft rock, and boogie, to funk and pop-rock.
His time with the band Crash saw him play four killer gigs before the chaos of COVID-19 hit in 2022. Meanwhile, with Plan B and John Citizen, Sal’s drumming has kept him busy from 2004 right through to 2025. Although John Citizen broke up after a few gigs following the Give A Little release, Sal’s passion for playing and performing has never stopped.
Always up for a good time behind the kit, Sal’s the kind of drummer who knows how to bring the energy and keep the rhythm going strong!
